Treasure Search

Image-1 (30)Morning all! Prov 11.27 says “If you search for good, you will find favour; but if you search for evil, it will find you!”

Searching for the good in others can be a difficult task. It’s so much easier to focus on the traits we don’t like, particularly when we’re dealing with people whose negatives seem to far outweigh their positives! There are people in our lives we find annoying and frustrating, yet as children of God, we’re expected to find the good in them despite how they behave. The word ‘search’ suggests that at times finding ‘the good’ will require significant effort, meaning that we’re not to take the easy way out (i.e. focusing on their flaws) no matter how hard the temptation. Instead, let’s ask God for the grace to always search for good with the understanding that His favour will surely follow.

Happy Wednesday!

(Let’s focus our Eyes on seeing the good in others!)

  1. Thanks for this post!
I think it’s useful to look at others as either carriers of the Holy Spirit or if they are not Christian, potential carriers. This changes the way we look at and interact with others.

  2. Again – it seems that today’s Word was meant just for me. Having to continue to show love to someone who seems unloveable. The temptation has been so strong to just keep her at arm’s length. A very long arm. But I’m encouraged by today’s Word to focus on the good points, not flaws, continue to show love & just leave the rest to God. Thank you Tomi, Sx

    1. So glad to hear that! I pray that God gives you grace in abundance to act in love even in the times when it’s easier said than done, IJN amen!

Thanks for also taking the time to comment – it’s really encouraging! xtx
