The Mask

image-1-39Morning all! Prov 14.13 says “Laughter can conceal a heavy heart, but when the laughter ends, the grief remains.”

There are seasons in our lives when we become expert mask wearers; pretending everything is ok when underneath the surface it’s all falling apart. We conceal our fears, challenges and realities from others hoping that we’ll avert suspicions that something is wrong. Sometimes it works, and even those closest to us don’t realise just how heavy our hearts are. Sometimes we don’t have the words to explain how we feel so we just keep quiet. Sometimes we forget exactly Who our Creator is. Quite simply, it’s time to remember that no one knows us like God knows us. He sees through our polished veneers and understands the emotions we can’t articulate. He knows when grief remains and our laughter conceals nothing from Him. The beauty of our God is that He doesn’t just know and understand us, He also has the perfect solution. He knows how to relieve the heaviest of hearts and can provide us with the resources we need to renew our hope and strength. Let’s entrust Him with our hearts and all the things that make them heavy, knowing that when we give Him our burdens, He gives us His rest.

Happy Wednesday!
