Morning all! Prov 17.27 says “He who has knowledge restrains and is careful with his words, And a man of understanding and wisdom has a cool spirit (self-control, an even temper).” AMP
Sometimes we have to choose to be wise, especially when we’re surrounded by people who seem determined to bring out the worst in us. Whether it’s at work, or amongst family and friends, there are times when we have to make a conscious decision to pick our words carefully; because, as this verse reminds us, it isn’t always necessary to say everything on our minds. The ability to exercise self-control and stay calm when people agitate us is indicative of Godly wisdom and understanding. Through God’s strength, we are called to reflect these characteristics even when it feels like it’d be far more satisfying to tell people about themselves! Regardless of how frustrating or annoying some people may be, God doesn’t excuse retaliation of any kind. Let’s pray for the wisdom to handle the trickiest situations and the understanding necessary to show love to the people we find most difficult. God will give us grace!
