Morning all! Ps 29.4,5 says “The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic. The voice of the LORD splits the mighty cedars; the LORD shatters the cedars of Lebanon.”
There are certain aspects of our lives that frustrate us because of the lack of progress we see in them. Try as we might, the situation proves stubborn and our efforts ineffective. The ‘cedars of Lebanon’ were considered one of the strongest, most durable trees – just like some of our challenges, they seemed unshakeable and insurmountable. Yet, at the sound of God’s voice, they shattered into pieces. The power of God’s voice is unrivalled and when He speaks to a situation, it has to change. These verses remind us that God can easily transform the areas of our life we find most challenging. Although we often have a part to play in overcoming our difficulties, we’re not the lead. We must understand that God’s role is far more important than ours. Quite simply, He is in the business of doing the impossible and we’re not. The reality is that when we try to do it all by ourselves, we exert a lot of effort with very little output. God’s majesty means that what He says goes. Let’s mindfully honour the power of God’s voice by faithfully trusting in His unfailing might.
