Morning all! Prov 22.4 says “The reward of humility [having a realistic view of one’s importance] and the [reverent, worshipful] fear of the LORD is riches, honour, and life.” AMP
Although we’d all agree that humility is a central part of the Christian faith, our everyday lives may tell a different story. Pride is often considered in its most obvious form i.e. believing you’re the best thing since sliced bread, when that’s rarely how most of us think. Many of us struggle with ‘subtle pride’ which is a lot harder to detect because it’s less about what we say and more about how we act. If we’re honest, we can be dismissive of those we think know less than us. Added to that, we all know one or two people we’d prefer did less talking because we don’t consider anything they say to be of any real value. These are all signs of ‘subtle pride’ which can lure us into thinking real pride is something ‘other people’ need to work on. Let’s be mindful not to think we’re more than we are. Let’s ask God to work on our hearts so we can give Him the reverence He’s due and be used more effectively for His kingdom. God will give us grace!
