Morning all! Ps 41.9 says “Even my best friend, the one I trusted completely, the one who shared my food, has turned against me.”
Sometimes we need to be reminded that everyone is fallible. We often hold the people closest to us to unreachably high standards meaning that when they make mistakes, we’re left feeling disappointed and betrayed. We forget that everyone’s human and in the same way we accidentally hurt others, they can hurt us. This verse is the perfect example of that because although the preceding verses teach us that God is there when no one else is, there’s no denying that the psalmist is all the way into his feelings. It’s true that God never leaves or forsakes us. He is our friend when no one else is; He understands when no one else does. He is our comfort and protector and knows what we need before we need it. Yet, the reality will always be that we can’t expect from others what we expect from God. God has placed people in our lives for a reason – let’s try harder to understand the people He’s surrounded us with. God will give us grace!
P.S. It’s good to be back! I realised that I didn’t explain in the last post that TWW was on pause over September whilst I was holidaying so sorry! Back to reality now though! 🙂
