Bind and Tie

Morning all! Prov 6.20-21 says “My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching. Bind them on your heart always; tie them around your neck.”

The beginning of the year often feels like a complete reset: an opportunity to start from scratch with a clean slate. As we think about our hopes and dreams for the year ahead it’s important that we don’t forget to listen out for God’s voice, paying attention to exactly what He expects from us. God is a God of Covenant. Whilst He promises to bless us, there are also commands we need to follow in order to see God’s absolute best manifest in our lives and to keep us away from unnecessary (self-inflicted) trouble. Many of us will have started the year with a desire to know more of God but if our actions don’t follow suit; we’ll find we’re being complacent Christians. Keeping God’s Word in our heart isn’t always easy especially when distractions battle for our attention on a daily basis. But, no excuses. Spiritual depth comes from being intentional in our pursuit of Him so let’s be proactive. Let’s commit to seeking God relentlessly so that no matter what this year brings, we can rest in the peace that comes from His presence. God will give us grace!

Happy Wednesday!
