First Response

Image-1 (109)

Morning all! Ps 46.1-2 says “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea.”‭

Panic. Anxiety. Distress. Despite being the exact opposite of what God expects, those are often our responses when we’re presented with a trial. In many cases, we forget the utter greatness of God and when we finally approach Him, it’s usually to ask why He even let ‘it’ happen… but we need to do better. As the first month of 2018 comes to an end, we should be excited about all the amazing things God will do in our lives over the next year. At the same time, however, we can almost guarantee that things will come our way that we don’t entirely like. Regardless of how small or big the upcoming hurdles are, our first response should be the same: look to God remembering that (a) He is bigger than the problem (b) He will give us the strength and fortitude to endure the challenge and (c) He is always ready to help. When we forget these fundamental truths, we play into the devil’s hands by (unintentionally) attempting to fight a battle we can never win on our own. This year let’s be smarter. Our most powerful weapons are activated through prayer. Let’s resolve to call on God immediately and watch Him come to the rescue.

Happy Wednesday!
