Morning all! Ps 47.6 says “Sing praises to God, sing praises! Sing praises to our King, sing praises!”
Self-explanatory much? Yet, somehow, we still miss the mark and put a caveat on our praise. Praising God is usually much easier when something good has happened. We often praise God only when we ‘feel’ He deserves it – like it’s a reward for good behaviour. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. Our feelings have nothing to do with what we owe God. Quite simply, God is God. King of the Universe. Almighty and all-powerful. Faithful to the end. Consistently consistent and perfect in all His ways. Let’s never forget that because it means He deserves our praise no matter what season we’re in or trial we’re facing. The very least we can do is honour Him with our praise. The fact He’s seen us through to where we are today should be enough for us to exalt Him… but even when it’s not, still we must praise. Praising God isn’t based on how we feel from one day to the next but entirely on His character and never-ending goodness towards us. Not only is praise recognition of how amazing our God is, it’s also one of the best ways of shifting the focus away from ourselves and onto Him, boosting our spirit in the process. Let’s commit to praising God in the good, the bad and the ugly because through it all He is worthy!
