Fight or Flight?

Image-13

Morning all! Ps 55.5-6 says “Fear and trembling overwhelm me, and I can’t stop shaking. Oh, that I had wings like a dove; then I would fly away and rest!”

If we’re not careful, this life can give us reason to live in constant fear. Whether it’s fear of change, the unknown or things we can’t control, we should actively work on living a life where the peace of God guards our hearts in every season and at all times. As soon as we start to feel overwhelmed, we need to take each and every one of our anxieties to God, running to, rather than away from Him. This Psalmist knew all too well that flying away (escaping) isn’t an option and no matter what the future holds, we have to trust God wholeheartedly as we rest in the knowledge that He has every second of our lives planned out. The grace and boldness we need to keep going comes from Him, so at the point where things start to get a little (or a lot) shaky, He is perfectly positioned to be our Sanctuary, Fortress and Resting Place. This is not the time to lose hope or confidence in God. He’s brought us this far and His unfailing love for us means He’ll continue to hold our hand every step of the way. Let’s decide to let our fears go and instead cling to Him as He guides our path according to His perfect purpose.

Happy Wednesday!
