Morning all! Prov 26.11 says: “As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his foolishness.”
The use of vivid imagery in this verse, although disgusting, effectively conveys how silly we look when we keep (knowingly) repeating the same mistakes again and again. Very rarely do we want to admit to behaving foolishly but the likelihood is that we each do things that are simply ridiculous. As we officially start the second half of the year, this is a great opportunity for us to reflect on our ‘bad habits’, the things we do that we know we shouldn’t and that we need to stop (yesterday). Whether it be things we say,
gossip conversations we participate in, things done in secret or anything else, let’s work on being better and practicing self-control and discipline in the areas of our lives that need it. Let’s ask God to help us live lives that please Him and be intentional about making better choices.
