Morning all! Prov 27:20 “Just as Death and Destruction are never satisfied, so human desire is never satisfied.”
Human beings have an insatiable desire for everything. We’re never fully satisfied and although we often think achieving the next thing on our list will lead to our ultimate happiness, that’s never really the case. The ‘shine of the new’ usually wears off pretty quickly, leaving us feeling dissatisfied and discontented as we try to figure out what our next ‘big win’ looks like. Of course, everyone loves the feeling of finally achieving a goal or seeing something we’ve prayed for become a reality, but when that very thing becomes ‘normal’, it’s impossible to deny that mere things have never and could never be enough to satisfy our deepest desires. It’s important for us to realise that our attempts to find true and genuine satisfaction outside of God are completely futile. Only God fills the voids that no one else can so pursuing Him above everything needs to be our top priority. Let’s ask God to help us seek Him first so that we make our Creator (and not the creations) our number one focus.
